​应 翔 帆 Ying Xiao 

 choreographer, dancer,director, and visual artist.

Ying Xiao is a choreographer and dancer based in Essen, Germany. He graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Choreography from the Minzu University of China and completed his Master's degree in Dance Composition at the Folkwang University of the Arts in 2021. Since 2013, he has actively participated in and organized various successful dance projects. In 2013, he joined the Chinese President’s delegation to Russia and performed at the opening ceremony of the “Chinese Tourism Year.” From 2014 to 2017, he taught at the Jiangxi Vocational Academy of Art and Nanchang University.

In 2020, he directed the experimental dance theater piece Dis Tanz, performed in both Germany and Wuhan, China. The work received the Concept Award and the China Outstanding Artist Award in 2021. In 2022, his piece Opfer was invited to the Essenzial Festival in Essen and the International Dance Theater Festival in Erfurt.

Ying Xiao enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration, experimenting with new media, and exploring the relationship between improvisation and choreography. His works often draw inspiration from contemporary Asian and European cultures. He currently lives and works in Essen, Germany and Zhejiang China.
